To get the look in five easy steps...
1. Spray damp hair with Alterna’s Caviar Styling Spray from root to tips, to prime hair for styling and protect against heat-styling. This spray also enhances volume, which is necessary for the Kevan Hall look.
Blow-dry hair straight with a round brush.
2. Carefully tease the top portion of the hair on the top of the head, making sure to only tease the top and front area, keeping the sides and back soft and smooth.
3. Gather the rest of the hair (not the teased portion) into a bun at the back of the head and secure with pins.
4. Lightly comb the top portion of the teased hair over the backcombed portion to create a soft smooth-looking beehive style, keeping the sides pulled back. Spray the entire head with Caviar Working Hair Spray to secure the style.
5. Finish with Hemp with Organics Spray Shine for a glowing, glamorous finish.
]]>Drawing on Charlie Chaplin’s “The Circus” for her Spring 2010 collection, Julie Haus enlivened a black, white, and grey palette with pops of cheerful color and flirtatious layers of silk and lace. To play off the feminine details in the collection, Stila’s Sarah Lucero focused the deep wine shadow Pigalle on the lower lid for an edgy finish. Lashes were loaded with Major Lash Mascara in Black, and lips were bare except for lip balm and a hint of concealer. After a reviving dose of ARCONA skincare, a simple dusting of Hydrating Finishing Powder kept the rest of the face matte and refined.
Oscar Blandi matched the breezy spirit of the collection, creating a bed head look with plenty of volume and definition. After prepping hair from roots to ends with Acqua Marina Styling Gel, tresses were blown dry with a diffuser for casual texture. Shine was added with Seta Silk Polishing Cream, and the whole look was set with Lacca Hairspray for Volume and Hold.
Deborah Lippmann was on hand for nails, and once the gun metal shade Hit Me With Your Best Shot was dry, the polish was smudged around the edges for a rock and roll treatment. Spring 2010 at Julie Haus is looking playful, pretty, and just a little wild.
]]>butter LONDON's Nonie Creme once again showed us a new way to look at nail color backstage at NY fashion week. To complement the braids and brows at Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 debut, the creative director of the lacquer line that contains No Formaldehyde, No Toluene, and No DBP, introduced a fresh approach to the wearable, neutral manicure. Instead of clear, nude, or soft pink - try one coat of Cream Tea and top with a matte solution. The finished "frosted glass" look is clean, versatile, and modern.
]]>Lela Rose once again offered something for everyone with her collection for Spring 2010. Vibrant colors and prints were shown in everything from separates to gowns.
Backstage, color also prevailed for the beauty look. After prepping the models' skin with Darphin Skincare, Stila's team executed a sun-kissed look created by Artists by Timothy Priano's Tina Turnbow. Using a cobalt smudge pot and the fandango shadow duo on the eye with a convertible color stain on the cheek, faces reflected the beachy summer hues that inspired Lela's collection.
Ted Gibson took the oceanside beauty one step further matching the fresh-from-the-beach face with a textured, messy ponytail.
Deborah Lippmann completed the look with two coats of nail color, aptly called "fashion".
]]>Vena Cava highlighted Spring with eclectic prints, streamlined silhouettes, and high-polish hardware. Ted Gibson created a low bun with just a hint of tousled texture, keeping the rest of the look sleek and flyaway-free with his Tame It styling lotion. Designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock gave their request for an office supply-inspired blue to Creative Director of butter LONDON Nonie Creme, who custom-blended the Artful Dodger and Royal Navy (shade coming soon) lacquers for a pop of refreshing color on the nails. A perfect mix of bright eccentric hues and distinctive style.
]]>Tailored lines and a classic neutral color palette defined Spring for Jenni Kayne this season, with tough leather pieces and sequin embellishments adding texture. For beauty, the designer wanted an edgy blue smoky eye. Stila's Sarah Lucero created the slightly imperfect and bold look by lining the entire eye with the super smudgable Kajal pencil in Sapphire and blending outward and topped with navy shadow. Lashes were pumped up with many many layers of major lash mascara. The rest of the face was kept subtle, clean, and shine-free, and paired with a matte nude lip.

Celestine makeup artists Lori Fale, Casey Gouveia, and Heidi Nymark joined Urban Decay's own Rachel Heyum to get team members of the Sockit Wenches, Grave Danger, Derby Liberation Front, and Throttle Rockets bout ready and beautiful for the fans at Key Arena last Saturday. No fear is definitely the motto for these ladies. The makeup was bold and fun with color, glitter, and lots of lashes. For that final touch Nonie from butter LONDON decked out nails in an array of cheeky shades and designs.
]]>Vena Cava's Fall 2009 Presentation showed what the acclaimed designers are known for best - wearable lean and fluid styles - this season with unexpected detail. Metallic hardware, cutouts, fringe, and shimmer added texture and dimension. There were new takes on classics, and feminine looks that were far from girlie.
Darphin Skincare was used to prep the skin. Then Vincent Longo lined upper lids in orange to contrast with the designers' rich, dark palette of forest green, black, and grey. A nude lip paired with the bold eye and matte face.
Ted Gibson created the cool girl's take on second day hair - balancing wet and dry, slick and full, done and undone, up and down.
butter LONDON's Nonie Crème added the final beautiful touch with a matte shade of British Racing Green lacquer (available in fall 2009) on the nails.

For her Fall 2009 collection, Lela Rose was inspired by the colors of the rainforest. The palette was jeweled and represented rich jungle tones and textures, but the shapes were classic, feminine, and functional.
Models' skin was first hydrated with Arcona Skincare. Tina Turnbow then created a look for the eyes with Stila Cosmetics that was reminiscent of beetles and succulent plants - showing a range of rich greens and gold that moved from light to dark with metallic shimmer and shine.
To complete the look, Ted Gibson backcombed hair at the top to give height and texture to a perfectly-imperfect, tousled ponytail.
]]>CFDA winner Alexander Wang put on a great show for the audience at the Roseland Ballroom. And the beauty was as exciting as the cool, chic Fall 2009 collection. Whether worn up or down, hair had slick texture on the sides. Makeup consisted of a contoured cheek and subtle silvery shimmer on the eye paired with a nude lip. Matte manicures featured our favorite butter LONDON shade of Yummy Mummy topped with a solution to remove the shine.
